{"id":975,"date":"2012-01-26T19:32:34","date_gmt":"2012-01-26T19:32:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/piqueoftheweek.wordpress.com\/?p=975"},"modified":"2012-01-26T19:32:34","modified_gmt":"2012-01-26T19:32:34","slug":"for-what-its-worth","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kplma.org\/pique\/2012\/01\/26\/for-what-its-worth\/","title":{"rendered":"For what it&#8217;s worth"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In 1924, the Kingston Highway Department did a good deal of work on the roads &#8212; particularly West Street, Pembroke Street, and Maple Street &#8212; and a new &#8220;highway beacon&#8221; was installed.<\/p>\n<p>While discussions of municipal spending on roadways dates back to the earliest town meetings, automobile traffic &#8212; that &#8220;modern method of travel&#8221; &#8212; was a new and rapidly growing concern. \u00a0Highway Surveyor Warren S.
