Later, Daniel Bisbee and Henry Soule ran a nail and tack factory there.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Next was Thomas Russell, who also produced tacks.\u00a0 In 1856, Sylvanus Bryant Jr. and Noah Prince set up a sawmill to make boards for boxes.\u00a0 By 1879, Bryant had bought out Prince; he continued to operate the mill until 1900.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_421\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-421\" style=\"width: 390px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-421\" title=\"pla-02-0024-ed\" src=\"https:\/\/www.kplma.org\/pique\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/pla-02-0024-ed.jpg\" alt=\"Bryant's Pond, 1925, by Emily Fuller Drew\" width=\"390\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.kplma.org\/pique\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/pla-02-0024-ed.jpg 640w, https:\/\/www.kplma.org\/pique\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/pla-02-0024-ed-300x166.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-421\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Bryant&#39;s Pond, 1925, by Emily Fuller Drew<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>This view, taken from the <span id=\"dnn_ctr638_ContentPane\">O.W. Stewart Preserve (part of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wildlandstrust.org\" target=\"_blank\">Wildlands Trust of Southeastern Massachusetts<\/a>)<\/span>, shows some of the buildings around\u00a0 Bryant&#8217;s Pond. In the left foreground stands a small boathouse, and behind it to the right is the Bryant Boxboard Mill. Behind the mill, the Lyman-John Cushman house and barn can be seen, along with a dirt road that is today&#8217;s Sylvia&#8217;s Place Road.
