“Peanut Jack” Costa, around 1908<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Who was Peanut Jack? \u00a0There’s nothing in the Local History Room to help identify him, but the 1890\u00a0Plymouth and Kingston Directory<\/em>\u00a0gives us this.<\/p>\n

The 1909 Plymouth Directory<\/em> has almost the same ad<\/a>, but the proprietress in that version is\u00a0a\u00a0Mrs. M. D. Costa, exactly what we see printed on the tarp or wagon cover right next to Peanut Jack in the photo. \u00a0So it seems likely that Peanut Jack was one of the “teams making regular trips to all places in the vicinity.”<\/p>\n
